PhD opportunity: Psycho-social determinants of perceptions of health inequalities and attitudes towards health equity policies

The School of Social Sciences, Birmingham City University, has a fully funded PhD opportunity for a project tailored towards uncovering the psycho-social factors which make social and structural attributions of health difficult for the public to understand and help determine how best to inform individuals of the role of social factors in their own health and influence their support for health equity policies.

The combined outcome of this project will be a multi-disciplinary PhD thesis providing unique and comprehensive insight into how psychology relates to public perceptions of health inequalities and the consequences of this for public policy. Upon completion the successful PhD should emerge as a uniquely qualified and highly competitive candidate in view of their disparate skills working at the intersection of public policy, health, psychology and sociology.
