The Julie Huibregtsen Award for Social Marketing Practice with Impact

Julie Huibregtsen was a founding member of the European Social Marketing Association, and she served on the ESMA Board for many years. She acted as a fantastic champion for social marketing across the continent and has done amazing work to promote social marketing principles throughout the Netherlands. Starting in the city of Rotterdam, Julie led a programme to embed social marketing principles into all social behavioural programmes across the city. She was called on by institutions across the Netherlands to assist them developing and delivering a range of social change programmes. Julie also made many other academic and practice focused contributions, including leading workshops, courses, and keynotes to so many young academics and practitioners. She was an engaging teacher who always met people “where they were” and made social marketing both understandable and accessible to them.

We invite nominations to identify candidates for the Julie Huibregtsen Award for Social Marketing Practice with Impact. The award, announced in 2024, is given biennially at the European Social Marketing Conference to honour social marketing practitioners, public administrations and organisations who demonstrate transformation and innovation in designing and delivering behaviour and social change programmes and/or policies that have positive impact on individuals and communities. The Giuseppe Fattori Social Marketing Educator Award

For more than ten years, he served as ESMA’s representative for Italy, playing a key role in strengthening the social marketing community in his country and across Europe. In addition, he also served for several years as a member of the ESMA Board and, more recently, as a member of our Alumni Board. Throughout this time, he made an extraordinary contribution to our association and to the development of social marketing across Europe. Giuseppe was one of the pioneers of social marketing in Italy. He helped establish the Italian Social Marketing Association and served as its President.
