This website is owned and operated by the European Social Marketing Association (ESMA), (also referred to as “we”, “us”, “our” or “ESMA”). The European Social Marketing Association is a professional association for individuals and organisations practicing, researching and teaching social marketing in Europe. ESMA endeavours to contribute to the development, evidence base and promotion of the social marketing discipline in Europe and the world.
By using our Website, you are agreeing to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Your access to and use of the Website is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. Should you disagree with any part of these Terms, then you may not access the Website. Agreement to these Terms shall also be deemed as agreement to our Privacy and Cookies Policies.
ESMA Membership
Any User may apply for Membership via the Website. The European Social Marketing Association (ESMA) has a number of Membership Levels that may be appropriate for the User, and the User is responsible for determining which Membership Level applies to them.
The Membership Levels currently available are Regular, Student, Supporter and Organisational.
The Member agrees that all details provided at registration are correct to the best of their knowledge including acknowledgement of their eligibility of Membership Level.
Following registration on the Website, the User acknowledges that they will not become a Member until their initial payment has been received by the ESMA.
Upon receipt of the initial payment, we shall send a welcome email to the Member advising how to validate their Membership.
Following receipt of the welcome email, the Member can log in to the members-only area of the Website and may use the Website in accordance with these Terms.
When you join ESMA as a member, we direct you to a secure third-party financial transaction company (Stripe) to handle the transaction. We do not have access to or store your financial information in any way at any time.
You are transferred to Stripe to approve the use of Stripe and then returned to the website to complete your order. A Stripe account is not required to complete the transaction. Payment can be made using debit or credit cards. Please check our privacy policy for more information about the use of your personal data.
The membership is valid for one year from the date of the purchase.
International Social Marketing Association (iSMA) membership
The ESMA membership now includes free iSMA (International Social Marketing Association) membership. This means that when you join ESMA as a member you have the option to also become a member of the iSMA. When you register as an ESMA member you will be asked if you would like to sign up for complimentary free iSMA membership. For iSMA members’ benefits to be realised iSMA needs access to members’ personal details.
Note that this process involves transferral of your information outside of the European Economic Area to a country (United States) that the European Commission has deemed to have an inadequate legal framework for the protection of personal data. To reassure you of the safety of your personal data, iSMA have agreed to all of the stipulations described in this letter, which are in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Please check iSMA’s privacy policy and terms of use for full details on how they manage members’ data.
Cancellation of Membership
Should the Member wish to cancel at any time, this can be done by sending a cancelation request by email to ESMA at info@europeansocialmarketing.org. As soon as this is received by the ESMA, and we have acknowledged receipt by email, your Membership will be cancelled, and no further payments shall be taken.
